America is in the middle of an organ crisis. 20 people die every day in the U.S. waiting for a transplant and over 100,000 people are on waiting lists. However, some researchers think they have a solution -- growing human organs inside animals. One of companies pioneering this approach is Recombinetics which raises genetically-modified pigs to grow human cells, tissues, and organs. Human stem cells are inserted into the animals to create “chimeras”. Could this strange idea be the key to helping people everywhere getting the life-saving organs they need?
