In Japan, make traditional rice cakes (Mochi) at the end of the year. We eat Mochi on New Year's Day. It is made from rice, which is very important to us, and we offer it to the gods on New Year's Day. I always have my parents to send it to us, but this year we're going to do Mochi pounding ourselves for the first time! I've been watching my parents making mochi every year since I was child, but it was sooo difficult to do it by myself!lol
