Note: when i mention dilute nitric acid, it is a 50/50 mixture of conc. HNO3 (~65%) and water.
Urea is the largest non-water component of pee and it's generated by the metabolism and breakdown of proteins.
It's an extremely useful compound and it's used in many commercial products, from fertilizers to cold packs. Im going to be using it for chemical synthesis, to make Dulcin (a now banned artificial sweetener) and Dilantin (an anti-seizure medication). And maybe some other things.
I definitely think that it is weird to use something that was once part of me to build new chemicals. However, it is also pretty cool. On top of this, Ill be tasting the Dulcin, so things will go full circle.
