On the 2nd of November 2021, more than 130 countries gathered at COP26 accounting for about 90% of the world's forests have made a pledge to halt and reverse deforestation by 2030. This pledge comes with a backing of $19.2 billion and has been proclaimed as a ground breaking international agreement on a scale that has never been seen before.

But reality is not as rosy….
