Chelsea & Tony Northrup review the Nikon Z9 firmware 2.1, specifically to test whether it resolves the eye autofocus problems we experienced in portraits and improves upon the animal tracking, especially for flying birds. You can get the firmware update here: https://www.nikonusa.com/en/ni....kon-products/mirrorl
Here are the firmware release notes that we're testing:
Autofocus is now better at tracking small subjects.
Autofocus now produces more accurate results with human portrait subjects detected via eye/face-detection AF with [Continuous AF] selected for [Focus mode].
Note that we're NOT testing the reduced flicker mode created by providing fine adjustments to the shutter speed - this is technology we've tested in the Sony a9 and Sony a1 and it's helpful and straightforward.
