This is a version of MTV Base that's been broadcasting in Africa (which includes Nigeria, West Africa, Kenya, and South Africa) since 2005. There are three different feeds of MTV Base Africa, with one catering for the South African audience known as MTV Base South, one for West Africa and another for rest of Africa. Though unfortunately, the African feed has been criticized for broadcasting only Nigerian music.

The channel's logo, idents and on-screen graphics are different from the United Kingdom version of the channel. The African version of MTV Base tends to focus on music from local artists, though the channel also airs music from foreign artists as well.
