Mastering the art of parenting is no easy job and the bold and amazing Swati Jagdish, famously known as 'Maya's Amma', has not just done that but has strived to educate people on the most intimate issues of life ranging from sexuality health and relationships to women's wellness. Her goal is to create a 'sex positive' society by raising a 'sex positive adult'.
In her talk she touches upon several topics related to sex-ed and how it can be discussed easily at home with young children, creating a better and safe environment for them to grow in. She makes the audience understand that Sex Ed is not just talking about sex but in itself a comprehensive subject covering a vast variety of topics.
Most importantly she stresses on the importance of understanding and respecting boundaries, not only children's but any person's. The talk progresses in a manner that enthuses the audience to listen further!
In conclusion, it most certainly turns out to be an eye-opener, reminding all of us that it's the smallest things, habits and behavioral patterns that matter and affect children's perception and growth! Funder of the Coimbatore Parenting Network, Swati is a Bharathiar University alumnus and is a certified behavioral profile analyst. She has done her Masters in Clinical Psychology and has made it her mission to educate humans on the most intimate issues of life ranging from sex education and psychology to pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, parenting and women's wellness.
Working as a lactation counsellor and sexuality health educator, her Instagram page is filled with exciting glimpses and sessions, where she empowers parents and partners on the 'not so conversed about' topics like vaginismus, porn addiction, painful birthing and Sex-Ed for children and adults alike! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
