Anatomy of female genital organs - dissection
After watching this video, it is expected that you will be able to:
• Identify the female genital organs: ovary, uterine (Fallopian) tube, uterus, vagina, clitoris, prepuce, labia minora, labia majora.
• Describe the female pelvic peritoneal reflections: uterovesical pouch, rectouterine pouch (of Douglas), broad ligament, suspensory ligament of the ovary, mesovarium, mesosalpinx, mesometrium.
• Identify ligaments of the uterus: round ligament of the ovary, round ligament of the uterus, cardinal ligament (lateral cervical ligament of Mackenrodt).
• Describe blood supply of the ovary.
• Outline the position and parts of the uterine tubes.
• Summarize the anatomy of the uterus in relation to parts (body, cervix), shape, size, attachments, peritoneal reflections).
• Describe the anatomy of the vagina: fornices, relations, peritoneal reflections.
• Identify the relations of the uterine artery and ureter (water under the bridge).
• Identify the female urethra: its length, relation to the vagina, and the external urethral orifice.
