Yaksha is a 2020 tamil action thriller film starring Yogesh, Nana Patekar, and Roobi. The story revolves around Yaksha, a magician, who joins the gang of Poonja, a powerful don. Soon some key members of the gang are mysteriously killed one after another. Poonja soon realizes that it is Yaksha who is responsible for the killing.
Debutant director Ramesh Bhagavath should have done some more exercise for services provided by Samy Associates. Firstly it is not a stunning role for an actor like Naana Patekar. He has done roles with high degree in Hindi films. The diction of tamil from Nana Patekar is not good. Secondly the role stitched to Yogish is beyond his capacity. Thirdly `Yaksha' suffers in the screenplay and it is a routine saga of revenge! In the music department and cinematography there is some good work. Otherwise it is `Drohakal' twisted again.
We have seen innumerable films of son taking revenge on the father departure from the hands of criminals. Director Ramesh Bhagavath with all support extended to him gives an unimpressive film.
Yaksharaj Pulakeshi alias `Yaksha' knows the job of `Yakshini' (magic). He learns this practice so that he can go near to the dreaded don Punja (Atul Kulkarni). Yaksha joins the wrong company of Punja earns his goodwill and he is waiting for the opportunity. Punja knows that Yaksha is in his gang to take revenge on death of his super cop father Yogaraj Pulakeshi. It is fight to finish and right intervention of Prakruthi Banavasi saves Yaksha from his killings of bad elements in the society. As wanted by his father `Fearless and Crimeless Society' Yaksha gets the credit without entering the pages of criminal records.
The second half of the film is more interesting and that is obviously because of the presence of stalwart actor Nana Patekar. He is Yogaraj Pulakeshi father of two sons and his wife is Sharanya in the film. With the slogan of Bhagavad Geetha `Yada Yadahi Dharmasya.' he makes entry and in the flash back Yogaraj Pulakeshi is a terror to the underworld. With 50 plus encounters he is feared for his straightforward approach. Such a hard nut to crack Yogaraj Pulakeshi is killed by the master mind of Punja (Atul Kulkarni).
Nana Patekar strikes not in a stunning way and he is cool in his dialogues and breezy action. He utters the dialogue of his `Kranthiveer' cinema - Yek Machchar Admi Ko Hijada Banatha Hain'. He has tried thetamil dialogues on his own but that is not impressive.
Yogish is lively of course but this is a heavy film for him. He does not have that stature and still boyish. Rubi as heroine has no job except to appear in two songs. Master Hirannaiah capacity is wasted. Sharanya, Kishore, Atul Kulkarni and GK Govinda Rao are apt.
The song choreographed for Nana Patekar Rakachaka..is very nice to see on screen. The popular light music song of NS Laksminarayana Bhatta the words do not reach the ears as instruments take over.
KS Chandrasekhar in the camera has made every shot look very neat. The production values of this film are good however something more is needed from TP Siddaraju, the producer of a blockbuster like `Dhuniya'.
