Restoring The Floodplain Forests of Slovakia
Europe's floodplain forests are one of the most endangered forest habitats in the world. They're teeming with life, with a rich diversity of bird, insect and fish species. They are also an important carbon sink, they help to filter and clean water supplies and provide natural protection against floods.
Unfortunately, much of these forests have been converted to non-native monoculture plantations, robbing the native wildlife of vital food and shelter.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
===============================
This planting season, we supported our partners Broz in planting 25,000 trees to restore the floodplain forests of the Danube river in Slovakia.
These trees will go a long way to helping restore and reconnect the native floodplain forests in Slovakia. The mix of species planted, including black and white poplar and native wild fruit trees like European crab apple and wild pear.
