Artists in China have been making colourful puppets for 2,000 years. It is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. Audiences in rural villages and in cities watched shadow puppets tell stories about heroes and villains, lovers and fantasy figures. Today, few still do this folk art, and artist worry about its future.
