Switzerland from above - Land of the free (Documentary, 2020)
When the continental plates of Africa and Europe collided 25 million years ago, a Swiss landmark was born: the Matterhorn. The glaciers that surround the Swiss peaks are the last witnesses of an ice age that once covered all of Europe. But the face of the Alps is changing. In a 100 years’ time, the last 1500 Swiss glaciers are likely to have all but melted away.

Switzerland was created by its natural borders. Inside, freedom could grow. The myth of the free Swiss people is based on an oath made over 700 years ago. Three emissaries swore to fight their tyrannical stewards, and thus, the Swiss Confederation was born. No foreign power should ever conquer the land of the free.
This film shows how the bright side of Switzerland developed – from above, during summer and winter, based on a brave and sometimes brutal history. But Switzerland is also the first country where tourism became a true business. The 19th century even saw the birth of mountaineering in this small part of the world.
