Ingredients:
Fish marination:
Hilsha fish / Ilish maach - 400-500gm
Salt - to taste
Turmeric powder- 1 tea spoon
Mustard oil -1 table spoon
Curry paste prep:
Black mustard seeds- 2 table spoon
Yellow mustard seeds- 2 table spoon
Poppy seeds- 1 table spoon (optional)
Coconut milk / grated coconut- 2 table spoon
Salt- 1 table spoon
Turmeric powder- 1 table spoon
Mustard oil - 3 table spoon
Water- as required
We all know that the Ilish (Hilsa fish) is the king of all fishes.
Ilish bhapa is the one of the dish which Bengalis hold closest to their heart.
Hilsa Fish bhapa is the traditional dish of the Bengalis from Bangladesh. It got the name “Bhapa illish” due to the steaming process involved in cooking this dish.
It is prepared with Mustard paste, Poppy Seed Paste, coconut milk, and green chilis. You will enjoy eating when the extremely soft bhapa fish will melt in you mouth. Most importantly you can cook the dish without much effort.
