Today I want to take you on a roomtour of a big and expensive apartment in the pre-revolutionary building, which was called “profitable house" back in the early 1900's. This is one of my favorite buildings in the center of Moscow and I'm always excited when I get a chance to see yet another apartment in this building :-)

Since apartments there are expensive, ordinary people will hardly get a chance to get inside. So don't miss this chance! :-)

The profitable house on Tverskoy Boulevard was built in 1906 by order of the famous Moscow homeowner, merchant Ivan Mikhailovich Korovin.

The five-story house has become a decoration of the boulevard: solemn, high entrances, graceful weightless balconies with a fence made of forged lattices with an openwork pattern run along the entire length of the facade plane. Tall, airy, although gray in color, it does not have that ponderous gloominess that is characteristic of many of its brethren- profitable houses of the early 20th century. The building was built in 1906 by the architect Ivan Kondratenko and it falls out of the usual style of the architect with this grace. Experts believe that the influence of William Walcott, the author, in particular, of the Metropol Hotel project in Moscow, with whom Kondratenko had to work, had an effect here.

In Soviet times, the house was given over to communal apartments, there were at least ten rooms in each apartment, two of them overlooked the boulevard and had a balcony, the rest went perpendicular to it, and looked into the courtyard with windows.

At various times, guests here were poets and writers, singers and musicians, artists, scientists, journalists, public figures such as Boris Pasternak, Vladimir Mayakovsky with Lilya Brik, Maya Plisetskaya and Rodion Shchedrin, Marcello Mastroianni and Adriano Celentano.

The building is located on the basement.

Two high entrances lead inside the house, located in the side wings of the building, the middle facade is interrupted by a high arch leading to the courtyard and closed with openwork gates. You can go upstairs by a wide staircase, the entrances are decorated with stucco, the apartments here have high ceilings.

Now this is an elite building in the center of Moscow, and you have a unique opportunity to visit one of the apartments with me today.
