My Very First Downhill Mountain Bike Race.

Froffers,
Downhill Mountain Biking, it sounds extreme! It sounds like a really easy way to f***k yoursef up and that's what I was anticipating. (Too much redbull TV).
But for my first DH race it wasn’t like that at all, at least this race wasn’t. Sure you can injure yourself but it's all up to the individual and how hard they are willing to push it. The DH format was a really nice way to build up to a race run. Gaining more and more confidence as you ride the same track and the same features over and over again. I think that's what I liked about it. In a gravity enduro I feel like I never really know what the hell is going on. I’m lost on the trail most of the time, just trying to survive as jumps, rocks, berms and rocks appear in front of my bike. This DH race was not that. It was a steady progression.
The Welli Mills DH track, the help of the Peel District Mtb club and Lances humour all made the transition from couch spectator to DH racer very easy.
If anyone's on the fence about entering a DH race like I was for a few years, def give it a go. Too much fun.
