In May 2018, the once mighty coalition, BARISAN NASIONAL suffered a spectacular fall from grace as a result of widespread public anger over a corruption scandal involving the then Prime Minister, Najib Razak. But four years later, the graft tainted party and the lynchpin of the long-ruling coalition, the United Malays National Organization or UMNO is making waves yet again.

It won two back-to-back state elections in both Melaka and Johor with a convincing majority. The opposition coalition, PAKATAN HARAPAN on the other hand is in a state of decline. Even a scandal-ridden leader, Najib Razak is enjoying a resurgence in his popularity.

With the next Malaysian General Election just around the corner, can Najib's increasing popularity bring about a resounding victory for UMNO and Barisan Nasional? Or will the scandal tainted former Prime Minister cast a dark shadow over the party's political future?
