A video by Matt Koval on the YouTube Creators channel explained the action as if it was a small thing we will get used to, since "other websites don't even have a dislike button", but the issue here is that other websites are not like YouTube, which happens to be the 2nd biggest search engine in the world, home to a lot of how to videos, tutorials, and advice videos where a rating system is crucial to aiding the viewer discern between what is and what isn't trustworthy.
