Chasing a Plate is in Tokyo Japan! Today we explore Asakusa. Asakusa is famous for it's Sensojii Temple as well as being one of the most traditional districts in Tokyo. Kinamarimon Gate is the entrance to Sensojii Temple and Nakamise-dori the street that leads to Sensojii Temple is lined with street food stalls and shops selling souvenirs and trinkets.

We sample some Asakusa street food on Nakamise Street including age manju- a sweet deep fried bun filled with sweet red bean, ningyo-yaki a sponge caked filled with red bean and our favourite snack of the day a sweet bread called melon pan which is filled with matcha ice cream. If you're into desserts, Asakusa is the place to visit to try lots of different Japanese sweets.

We have a wander around the temple and get our fortune told before heading back into Shinjuku. We stop at Sukiya, a restaurant chain that specialises in 'bowls' and eat a ginger pork bowl and a beef bowl. Cheap, filling and tasty!
