For someone who has been served a lot of rare steaks, Gordon Ramsay gives some of the worst advice about cooking steak.

Whether you use your face or the more common thumb thing, testing the doneness of a steak by touching your flesh is a very inconsistent way to cook steak.

In my opinion, steaks are one of the easiest things to get right. There are 4 basic variables that lead to a good steak in my opinion.
1. Good quality beef
2. Salted appropriately
3. Cooked correctly
4. Nice sear
Using a temperature gauge like a thermometer or sous video makes it simple to nail a perfect steak.
