2022 Toyota Fortuner GR Sport – Off Road Capability Test On Track
Since the second generation was introduced in 2016, Toyota has strengthened the Fortuner's DNA with the 2GD-FTV VNT Intercooler 2.4 liter diesel engine producing 147.5 hp at 3,400 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 2,000 rpm. This diesel engine complements the 2TR-FE 2.7 liter Dual VVT-i petrol engine producing 160 hp and 242 Nm of torque to meet the diverse needs of customers.
The New Fortuner now comes with a choice of a new 1GD-FTV 2.8 liter VNT Intercooler engine that produces 201 hp at 3,000 – 4,000 rpm and 500 Nm of torque at 1,600 – 2,800 rpm. While the 2GD-FTV engine is still used by other types of Fortuner.
With a 36% larger output and 25% stronger torque, the 1GD engine can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.9 seconds, while the 2GD engine registers a speed of 60 to 80 km/h. 1GD recorded 2.8 seconds, while the 2GD engine 3.7 seconds.
Toyota has also equipped the New Fortuner 2.8 liter GR Sport with a four-wheel drive system (4×4) complete with Easy 4×4 Switch features and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) features. With the presence of this new flagship type and engine, the New Fortuner now has eight variants.
The New Fortuner VRZ 2.8 diesel 4×2 is priced from IDR 580.9 million. The VRZ GR Sport 2.8 liter 4×2 diesel is sold with a price tag of IDR 597.9 million. While the Fortuner 2.8 liter 4×4 is priced at IDR 684.5 million. (S-4)
