We could not miss the opportunity to get closer to Lourdes in the Hautes Pyrenees, to drive through the unusually empty streets of the famous city because of the global pandemic that we are suffering. What normally is a coming and going of pilgrims, tourists, walkers, today we can see how this town in Occitania, patiently awaits to recover its normality and continue to offer the traveler all its charms.

The small French town of Lourdes does not exactly stand out for its population, with just 15,000 inhabitants. But from the 19th century it would begin to be the focus of attention because the apparitions of the Virgin to the girl Bernadette Soubirous took place here ( https://www.lourdes-france.org/en/). Today it is one of the most important places of Christian pilgrimage, welcoming each year about 3.5 million visitors from more than 140 countries. Located in the south of France, at an altitude of 400 meters, it belongs to the Hautes-Pyrenees department in the Occitania region.

The town is bathed by the river Gave de Pau, which together with the mountainous environment that surrounds it, gives it an idyllic appearance. That is why, whether we are believers or not, the visit to Lourdes is really recommended.
