I was asked if you can boost your metabolism by eating more fat.

First, you need to know that of all the foods you can eat, fat is the lowest on the insulin index. Insulin is the hormone that stores fat and also prevents you from tapping into fat.

The amount of insulin in your body affects your metabolism more than anything. The amount of insulin also relates to the amount of insulin resistance you have. Your body will keep making more insulin which will keep slowing down your metabolism to the point where no matter what you can’t lose weight.

To speed up your metabolism keep insulin low. Also, eating fat will satisfy you, keep you from being hungry for longer, and allow you to do intermittent fasting a lot longer. Intermittent fasting is another tool to reduce insulin and help heal insulin resistance to the point where your metabolism is a lot faster.

Fat is a key thing to help you heal your metabolism!

Let’s talk about another diet called the Ideal Protein Diet. The good thing is that it’s low carb so it will lower your insulin and you can lose weight. They do recommend vegetables, which is good. But the bad thing is that it's low fat. With low fat, you’ll be hungry all the time. This is why they recommend four meals per day.

Another problem is they recommend powdered protein meals with low-quality ingredients such as soy (which is usually GMO), milk proteins, and whey proteins along with synthetic vitamins. Low-quality protein and low fat can cause your hair and skin to dry out, and your appearance to age. I’ve noticed people also have problems with their gallbladder, liver, and even have gallstones. You’ll lose weight initially but then at stage 3, you’re allowed to put back the grains and sweet items.

The maintenance diet is full of refined carbs, and low-fat dairy items. The problem is that this diet is meant for weight loss but not for health. And my motto is you need to get healthy to lose weight.

I want to differentiate between metabolism and weight loss. Fat itself won’t directly help your metabolism; instead, because it helps improve insulin resistance, it will support weight loss.

But if you’re consuming a lot of fat your body will break down a good proportion into ketones which your body will then use as fuel. So potentially if you’re consuming too much fat that can help your metabolism but you won’t lose weight because your body is using dietary fat not tapping into your own fat stores.
