The Hidden Lives of Scottish Wildlife Revealed
Camera trapping enables us to carry out an inventory of the species on the Alladale Wilderness Reserve as well as their relative abundance and distribution across the landscape and its various habitats. In this video we show you some of the amazing footage we captured in the process!

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
===============================
Our cameras racked up 2538 days of filming recording 10.524 videos of which 3.895 captured some wildlife recording a total of total of 56 species. These included Pine marten, Otter, Badger, Fox, Dotterell, Red Squirrel, Water vole, Kestrel, Woodcock, Common sandpiper, Ring ouzel, Black grouse, Golden eagle, Snipe, Tawny owl and Mountain Hare among many others. The recorded species abundance also varied between habitats which is really interesting. Grasslands recorded 33 species, Broadleaf forests recorded 32, pinewoods 28 and heathland 14. This higher species density in woodland and grassland habitats as compared to heathland clearly shows the biodiversity value of restoring these habitats and is encouraging for our woodland restoration work.
