Who’s ready for a Ford GT generation drag race!

We’ve got our hands on an original Ford GT 40 from 1967, a second-generation GT from 2006, and a third-generation from 2017!

So let’s see how the three compare. Starting with the GT 40, it comes equipped with a 4.7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 that can deliver 310hp and 450Nm of torque. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 5-speed manual gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,230kg. Back when it was first released it cost $18,500, but if you’re looking to buy one today it’ll easily set you back $2,500,000!

Then we have the Mk2. It’s packing a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 that puts down 560hp and 680Nm. All the power it sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual, and it weighs in at 1,520kg. It cost £110,000, but now it costs around £500,000.

Then finally we have the latest GT. It’s powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 that can put down 650hp and 750Nm. It’s the only car here with an automatic gearbox, with all this power sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual clutch. It tips the scales at 1,485kg, and while it cost £440,000 when it was first released, it’s now valued at around £1,000,000.

So will it be a walkover for the all-new GT, or could one of the older ones get a shock win? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Thanks to @PetersenMuseum for setting up this drag race!
