GERMAN Currywurst Godfather from Berlin | German Street Food | #Berlin #Germany
Today's episode is all about sausage - more precisely, the original Berlin Currywurst, which first saw the light of day in Berlin-Charlottenburg shortly after the end of the Second World War.
Also known as the "Little Man's Steak", it has been an integral part of German food culture ever since.
So much so that 800 million currywurst sausages were eaten in 2020 - you could wrap around the earth almost 2,000 times if you put them in a row!!! 😂
And in Germany, "Currywurst with Fries" is still one of the most popular dishes in many canteens - but is becoming increasingly rare in the wild.
An integral part of the mostly independently run Currywurst stalls is the special charm and character of their operators. Together with their own special sauce, these give the Currywurst its destinctive flavor and soul. A cheerful joke, a casual saying and a nice smile are always included free of charge.
This is also true of the "Currywurstdealer" in Berlin-Tegel, run by Torsten in the Tegel district of Berlin.
