Soaking time: 2 to 3 hours.
Ingredients
½ cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
½ cup ghee
½ cup milk
½ cup sugar
¼ tsp saffron strands dissolved in 1 tbsp water
½ tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
1 tbsp almond (badam) slivers
For the garnish

Method
1. Soak the moong dal in enough warm water for 2 to 3 hours and drain well.
2. Blend the moong dal in a mixer to a coarse paste without using any water.

6. Add the sugar and mix well and cover and cook on a slow flame for another 5 to 7 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
7. Add the saffron-water mixture, cardamom powder and almond slivers and mix well.
Serve hot garnished with almond slivers.
