From Mittenwald the helicopter is headed towards Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain. In this region there are people who confront natures’ forces and keep traditions alive. As does Stephan Pfeffer, who is the "Lueftl"-painter of Mittenwald. He learned the craft from his father, whose pictures adorn the village’s houses to this day. Hoellental gorge is the realm of Florian Doerfler. Every year in spring he and his team build ropes and bridges to make the gorge accessible for hikers.

On Mount Schachen Jenny Wainwright-Klein spends her summers working as a gardener in the Alpine garden in the high mountains. In the Eastern part of the Allgaeu region, scientists explore the mysteries of Lake Alatsee - his waters regularly turn red, presumably due to bacteria that live deep down on the bottom the lake. In Schwangau, King Ludwig II has built his neverland: Castle Neuschwanstein. Castellan Markus Richter is the caretaker of the grounds which are visited by 1,3 million visitors a year.
