Moong Dal ki Chaat

A healthy and tasty, nutritious and flavourful snack indeed. Pomegranate and raw mangoes perk up this colourful chaat.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes. Cooking Time: 5 minutes. Serves 4
Soaking Time: ½ hour.

½ cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
Salt to taste
½ cup grated carrots
½ cup pomegranate (anar)
½ cup chopped spring onions (whites and greens)
¼ cup chopped raw mangoes
2 tbsp finely chopped mint leaves (phudina)
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)
2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp chaat masala
4 tsp lemon juice

1. Clean, wash and soak the moong dal in enough water for ½ hour and drain well.
2. Combine 3 cups of water, moong dal and salt in a deep non-stick pan and cook it on a medium flame till it is half done, while stirring occasionally. Ensure that each grain of the dal is separate.
3. Strain the dal using a strainer and keep aside to cool for 10 minutes.
4. Combine all the ingredients, including the moong dal, in a large bowl and toss well.
Serve immediately.
